Ladies!

The Florida State Convention was very successful this past weekend!  Thanks to Tina Sleyzak and Michelle Porter, BUNCO was a huge success!  So many ladies joined in and had a ball, newbies learning in the blink of an eye.

The addition of a challenge put out to the Columbiettes garnered extra baskets, bringing in a total of $2948 between the basket raffle and the 50/50, with the Florida State Columbiettes contributing an additional $72 to bring the total to $3,020 to be donated to our charity for the convention, Cross Catholic Outreach.  Mr. Terry Waters was our speaker and enlightened many who were unfamiliar with this charity which is strongly supported by the Knights of Columbus.  Besides financial support, The Box of Joy during the holidays provides a special gift to children who may never have known the blessing of a gift at Christmas — these boxes are free to all, with pickup locations close to most parishes.  Please consider this charity before the holidays for your parish, auxiliary, and council.  More information can be found here:  https://crosscatholic.org/box-of-joy/

Unfortunately, the Columbiette Auxiliary to win the challenge was announced in error at the banquet as #9924.  That Knights Council does not yet have a Columbiettes Auxiliary.  The actual winner of the $250 donation from the Florida State Knights of Columbus is Incarnation, in Tampa!  Congratulations ladies!  Photos of the weekend’s events can be found at:  kofcfoto.website/index.html

The next meeting will be the Florida State Knights of Columbus Organizational Meeting, and will be held at the Doubletree Hotel, located 5780 Major Boulevard, Orlando, at the entrance to Universal.  This meeting will be for all DD’s and above.

As is our usual kick-off to the new fraternal year, there will be an ice cream social Friday night for ladies only.  If a Knight would like to participate, it’ll cost him, $25 each!  Please sign up for the event so that we have an accurate headcount.  There is no charge for the ladies.

The Ladies Luncheon will be on Saturday, and the decor will be our usual patriotic theme of red, white and blue.  Please feel free to dress in anything and everything relating to our country and Old Glory.

Special note:  Should you (and children, if you brought them) wish to attend the luncheon, your husband MUST sign up on your behalf, to include children) during the registration process.  ONLY REGISTERED LADIES will be admitted due to the limited space of our accomodations.  Names will be checked at the door.

On behalf of the Board (myself, Lisa Gizewski, Shirley Coicou, Peggy Rasch, Tina Sleyzak, and our IPSD’s wife, Lucie Urrutia), we look forward to seeing each and every one of you, especially those new DD’s wives.  Please look us up and introduce yourselves (sometimes again!)
