Mary Beth O'Connor Holy Angels Memorial Fund for Vocations

Dear Brother Knights and families and supporters of vocations to serve our Church and world,

We were recently informed that our beloved First Lady of the Florida State Council, Mary Beth O'Connor, passed away after a lengthy illness.  She was greatly devoted to the cause of an increase of vocations through prayerful support of time, talent and treasure.  In her memory, I am beginning a new fund to financially support our seminarians and all pursuing religious vocations.  It will be called the Mary Beth O'Connor Holy Angels Memorial Fund for Vocations.

I am asking each council and assembly in the Florida jurisdiction to make one pledge to this fund.  Please dedicate one fundraising activity to this fund.  It can be a dinner, fish fry, social event etc.  Send the net proceeds made payable to the Florida K of C Charities Inc./Holy Angels Fund.  Mail it to my attention and address below.

I thank all of you for your generous support of the Holy Apostles Fund thus far.  Your generosity exceeded my prayers a thousand-fold.  Please continue to support it.

Make a special effort to honor this special lady with generous contributions to this new fund so when we gather for the annual State Convention your council or assembly will be inscribed on the Mary Beth O'Connor Holy Angels Memorial Fund for Vocations Honor Roll.

How many times do we pray for people, when we are supposed to be the answer to that prayer? If you say the simple prayer 'use me to serve you' every day, God is going to use you today, tomorrow, and the next day. He's going to use you every day that you're willing.

This is our mission as Knights of Columbus.  Offer prayers daily, prayerfully give of your treasure and be the answer to a prayer each day.  Giving to this fund will be an answer to May Beth's prayers.  Be assured that she is continuing to pray for us and our work in this world.  As she was a shining example of self-sacrifice with dignity and grace so let our efforts to establish this fund show our prayer in action.

We will continue to see her with all our faithful departed gathered at each Mass around the Eucharistic table.  Let us "Put Out into the Deep" yet again and generously and lovingly contribute so vocations will never want financially,

If you wish to make individual contributions, they will be accepted as well.  Continue to pray for our State Deputy Scott O'Connor at this difficult time and let him know we are his brothers and here for him.

Fraternally,

Mark W. Lynn
